What it involves
- A brief with a word count, a tone and a subject.
- Original work. Machine translation submitted as human work is rejected.
- Usually one round of revision if something is off.
What gets rejected
Stated up front, because a rejection reason you only discover afterwards is not a standard, it is a trap.
- Text generated by an AI and submitted as your own.
- Translation that is fluent but changes the meaning.
- Missing the brief on length, tone or subject.
What it pays
Per piece, and it scales with skill in a way the other categories do not. Native fluency in a language with fewer available translators is worth considerably more than fluency in a crowded one.
We do not publish an hourly figure for this or any other category. The honest answer depends on your country, your languages and what clients are asking for this week, and a number on a marketing page would be the best case dressed up as the typical one.
